== NRC Cindy Talion, Synthetic ==
Cindy listened to Konas run through his list of likely suspects and the rationalizations for or against of each. When he asked about her mention of family, she gave a small nod and replied, "Commander Talion's parents were highly educated and with their wealth came the need to have social and professional circles that helped them to help others. unfortunately, as you pointed out, sometimes charitable work and good intentions can irritate people who benefit from the misfortune of others. As a result, the family has had a number of members come to a violent end. A couple have been ambassadors, like yourself. Being in Star Fleet is not the safest job in the galaxy. We've managed to help lots of people over the years, but his wife was killed in a battle with the borg some years back and he himself was nearly killed. They don't always prepare you for that at the Academy."
Cindy saw him examining himself and offered the comment, "The surgical team did very fine work on you. You won't even show a scar. That heart is a very good design. I field tested it myself, before it was approved for human trials. I test all of our designs. That one is quite resilient and has been only altered in small ways for high gravity situations for military use over the past few years. I suspect it will last you at least a century or longer. I don't recommend being shot again. A plasma bolts hurts more than a clean phaser shot. I can't say I like being shot by any weapon, but hot plasma surrounding a tiny molten projectile is a rather nasty one. Under Star Fleet medical procedures, you would be following up with a talk with our Counselor, hoping to ease your psychological processing of your trauma and all that."
She tilted her head a little and wrinkled her nose, "You don't strike me as the sort of man that wants to hang around for that though. I know that you didn't even want to come to the ship, but obviously we had to make that call for you. Your family chose to remain in your home." She smiled and changed gears a little, "I'm sorry, I suppose I'm rambling a bit and should let you get some rest. Did you have any other questions for me before I go?"
The array of projected monitors and holograms that Cindy had been using vanished. She made no gesture to command them, as she didn't need to. They had technically all been extensions of herself. Cindy presumed that Jonas was quite familiar with such technology and the planet was filled with augmented people that probably seemed less organic than she appeared. She was designed to look as human as possible, including small flaws. Skin that looked too perfect stood out as such and made people uncomfortable. The synthetic skin was designed for prosthetics so that even when a person was wearing one, they had a hard time being able to tell where their own skin stopped and the prosthetic began. That was the point though. Most people didn't want their cybernetics to show. The culture Jonas was living in, on the planet below, it was a curious thing to Cindy. She had never encountered people so eager to alter themselves when it wasn't needed. She knew of certain mercenaries that did so, but that was a bit different.
