“Yes, the Federation Diplomatic Corps arranged the flight. We were meant to arrive over the city of Saule and transport down from orbit. Even though we couldn’t communicate, we expected the Riani to verify our identity. I’m thankful that the pilot was able to direct our emergency landing toward the uninhabited area in the desert.”
“As for what we expected, I read as much as I could in preparation for my first off-world posting, though I fear that Jonas’s logs were rather sparse. I knew that the situation on the planet was tense, but I had no idea that our relationship had degraded to this level. I likely wouldn't have been selected for this assignment if we had known that this was possible."
