You can see that they wrote the first part of their post as their PRC then switched the the NRC to continue the plot before switching back to their PRC again with a little bit of crossover between them.
Where you are using three characters. Just for now concentrate on two. But keep third one in the loop. What you've done so far is good. This is just a formatting exercise. (don't forget your itallics and bolds)
As you can see from the other cadets example, it's not splitting each of the characters lines up. It's telling the story form multiple perspectives.
Cortez sees what's happening in his eyes, so you write the first part as you. Then Fan might have a different view or you just continue the rest of the story from her view point and how she sees what's happening.
We'll get you there. There's nothing to stop you reading through other areas of the site if you need more examples of this.
