[Midshipman A’kilees to Bridge stat]
A’kilees received the message on his communicator from the First Officer. He was finishing up working on a wall console when the yellow alert was broadcasted ship wide but the sudden call to get to the bridge immediately made the situation seem pressing. A’kilees returned his tools into his kit and pressed his comm badge to reply.
[A’kilees here. Acknowledged, I’m on my way.]
A few moments later, A’kilees arrived on the Bridge from the turbolift, walked up to the on duty Engineering officer and patted their shoulder to relieve them. The female human ensign looked up and smiled at the midshipman and relieved her seat for the saurian and made her way towards the turbolift. A quick look towards of the front view screen got him up to speed on the situation. An unknown derelict ship floated in space, dark and alone. The unusual ship intrigued him; it didn’t look like any ships that were currently in the Federation but oddly reminiscent of those found in museums.
A’kilees overheard the concerns Lieutenant Gath had brought up to Commander Ameen about the potential dangers in the adrift ship. He quickly sat down in the chair and began to do a structural and atmospheric diagnostic of the vessel.
“Checking vessel structural integrity and internal atmosphere.” A’kilees stated aloud as he began to work the console.
A’kilees also began to scan the entire starship to get a full detailed schematic. Its asymmetrical construction and engineering were interesting enough that A’kilees considered filling out an engineering report. If someone in Starfleet had been observing Icarus III, they would want to study their stellar accomplishment albeit being a failure.
