Sometimes Evie forgot that her voice could carry and didn't count on the Commander hearing her, when she heard the question about the Humanitarian solution she turned her head quickly to face him. He wanted the unfiltered answer was a big surprise to her, she always kept a filter on what she said for the most part.
As she attempted to say something, nothing came out at first. "The Humanitarian in me is wondering if they are suffering, it is possible that they are partly conscience feeling this but can't do a thing about it. Kind of like old surgeries gone wrong, when the Anesthesiologist didn't get the mixture right people were awake but couldn't move. Every muscle would be paralyzed by the gas, and they had no way to communicate this or they would be screaming." Evie started to think a little more. "If they are not getting what the body needs, their bodies will be consuming itself until there is nothing left, starting with the muscles they have, and eventually the fat tissue." She didn't like to imagine what they would look like when that happened, Earth has many images of people who did go through it.
"Eventually if nothing is going to be done they will die the best option is flash frozen, they wont have time to suffocate. There are many ways I can outline one being worse than the other, but this one will suffice. In theory if we replace the primitive batteries with newer ones, all the systems could go back to normal operational status only repairing the outer hull on the way out" There was a good chance that if that did that they would be too weak to do anything at first, eventually their life signs could be strong again and they would leave minimal evidence that anyone was there. "If A medical Officer was present, we would be able to make sure they stay asleep or give warning if they are coming around." She really didn't want to be there, but was ready if needed to be.
