A’kilees was relieved to hear from the Chief that the Zephyr Engineering crew were capable and s/he had every bit of confidence in them all. He had expected more rigidity and discipline when serving time at Starfleet but was relieved at the more relaxed nature but excited at the prospect of constantly being busy.
The door opened and Keir and A’kilees stepped out of the turbolift.
“Welcome to Engineering Midshipman” s/he said enthusiastically as she approached and introduced various members of the Engineering staff until s\he got to the Deputy Chief. “Ensign, I would appreciate it if you could give our newest officer an introduction to our department and assign him some tasks to familiarize himself with our policies and procedures.”
The ensign in question, Raven Singer, was a human female with dark hair tied in a ponytail, wearing coveralls and had unusually coloured eyes which immediately struck A’kilees to be quite beautiful. He had been born with eyes that had an emerald tinge, unusual for a saurian. Perhaps he had found someone with some common ground. She smiled and extended a hand.
“Welcome to the most important department on the ship.”
A’kilees smiled as best as his saurian features allowed him to and firmly grasped the Ensign’s hand.
“I appreciate your welcome, Ensign.” A’kilees replied and looked around at the other members of the crew who had come to welcome him. “Thank you all for your welcome aboard the Zephyr, and please, call me A’kilees”
Raven looked A’kilees up and down, sizing the saurian up. “Wow, you’re a big one. I hope you don’t have an issue with tight spaces. First thing I’m going to do is have you become familiar with the ship by having you crawl through every jefferies tube we have. That should be a good start.” A’kilees chuckled.
“Jefferies tubes? Sounds like you’re going easy on me, Ensign.” he joked. “Please, lead the way. I’m eager to get started.”
