As A'kilees began to answer Tom, he nodded in return, "A bit redundant there, I suppose. Transporter and Replicator technologies are almost the same. It is just a matter of resolution, matter sourcing and pattern targeting. Replicators are practically tiny, crude transporters. They are capable of drawing from outside sources and then fabricating from a pattern at a small distance. I had to take some minor engineering courses as part of my pilot training. I was more interested in modified field theory applications, like shields and warp field generation. I had always hoped to try and make small improvements to fighter ship designs. The understanding of propulsion systems certainly helped me to develop relatively unconventional combat maneuvers."
Tom then listened with interest at how the others answered the question.
