Some on site training would do me good. A’kilees thought to himself. Ensign Singer had brought up some good points in her introduction. Though he had been on a few vessels temporarily as a cadet, getting some new hands-on experience on the Zephyr would definitely be beneficial. As Raven had pointed out, the age of the Steamrunner Class as compared to other escort classes in Starfleet it was no top of the line vessel but was certainly a work horse still capable of holding her own whether exploring or in combat.
Raven handed him a PADD to which he accepted happily. Raven had obviously taken some time to customize it to accommodate him even before he had arrived. A’kilees started quickly scrolling through the data quickly pouring over the schematics of the Zephyr; tactical systems, computer systems, utility and auxiliary systems, all there and more. He had previously viewed the schematics of the Steamrunner class that were available when he found out he was to be assigned here, but now he could see every alteration and modification that had been made to the vessel during its many years of service. The list was quite extensive, he would definitely need to spend some time later in his quarters to go over them all.
“So, do you have any questions for me before we dive into all that? Don’t be shy. We’re going to be spending lots of time together, so you better get comfortable asking questions” Raven asked.
A’kilees snapped back from absorbing the Zephyr’s structure and systems and looked back down towards the ensign. He had been listening intently to her and appreciated Raven’s simple and straightforward speech as well as her relaxed candor. Compared to the stuffy attitudes and roundabout way of talking his engineering instructors had back at the Academy, this was much more of a relaxing atmosphere but with a plethora of tasks to complete. A’kilees nodded approvingly.
“Yes of course *gwar* thank you Ensign. I think some hands-on work would be great.” A’kilees replied happily. “I was wondering if we could have a look at the transporters at some point soon?”
