The brunette understood that competitive streak, and the desire to want to be better, to test yourself and your limits, and while she hadn't done much of that since leaving the freighter, it was good to know that she wasn't the only one. Mara then picked up a couple of the blades, and Ardanna very much wanted to observe how the more senior officer handled a blade away from everyday life, and the emotions often associated with going on away missions. This could also be a teaching moment, and Ardanna was always interested in learning as much as possible.
She not only observed but also listened as Mara felt comfortable sharing her admission and explaining her particular technique, and how she preferred it over the standard method. " No, I get that, sometimes you've gotta stick with what works for you, even if it's not what others consider normal". Mara didn't stop there, as she then demonstrated the normal technique, successfully hitting the target just like she had previously.
Now it was Ardanna's turn, as Mara teased her about being a DS9 native. " Very easily, I spent time practising for the fun of it", Ardanna admitted, hoping that her practice would pay off and not make a complete fool of herself in front of her boss. Stepping up, Ardanna picked up two of the throwing blades, taking a deep breath before aiming the first blade at the target. Thankfully, her practice paid off as it landed in the centre, the second one just falling short of the bullseye, hitting the outside of the red circle.
