As Gath focused the sensors on the alien vessel's communication array, the tactical console chimed with the results of the deep scan.
Communication Array: Identified as a high-gain, directional radio transceiver. It is primitive by Federation standards, designed for line-of-sight transmission within a solar system.
Status: The array is physically intact but dormant. It is currently emitting a weak, rhythmic carrier wave—an automated distress beacon powered by the last dregs of the emergency batteries.
Logs/Data: Sensors detect a heavily shielded magnetic storage unit located beneath the floor plates of the command cockpit—essentially a "black box."
Retrieval Probability: Remote access has currently failed. The vessel's main computer lacks the power to respond to a hail or initiate a data dump. To retrieve the logs, the USS Zephyr would either need to hit the ship with a precise inductive power beam (risking an overload of their fragile systems!) or someone has to go there and physically retrieve the data core, the old fashion way.
