Jez was in shock when Commander Velaul said, "We have covered some of it earlier, but when we have that dinner we will go over the rest. It's mostly about chartering a plan for you, advancements with important details about how with what comes with it. You can train for most everything but how the realities are when you achieve more authority, for now there are a lot of details for me to hammer out. Jez was a bit excited when Beno stated about charteering plan for Jez;s future, but Jez couldn’t be certain of any future, not with Devyn Ukinix and The Ninth House looming in the background, with the power and influence of The Ninth House Mala could find herself assigned to a remote outpost near Romulan or Klingon border, not a place suitable for an officer with a child. Ukinix could use that in a custody battle citing that Jez’s daughter would be in danger, the psychological impact of raising a child in a hostile environment would have profound and long-lasting developmental implications on the child. Jez wouldn’t have her career dictated by her child and Devyn.
Jez liked the idea of her child going along with her from assignment to assignment seeing the Galaxy first hand, but Jez had to be honest with herself was that the kind of a life for a child. Jez’s parents would take her along on digs, she didn’t really have any friends growing up except for a few kids of the members of her parents Archeological Team, oftentimes the children's parents would move along to other digs on other teams often leaving Jez alone. Is that the kind of life Jez wanted to subject her daughter to? Jez knew that she would have to give this a lot of thought.

In Jez's humble opinion there were still many unanswered questions.

Upon hearing that Jez smiled and thanked the Commander for her time. “Commander, if you don’t need me, I will return to my quarters to change for a workout on the holodeck.
