Alex paused and grinned to himself at how she had artfully turned his own efforts back on him, but in a nice way. Yes, she did indeed remind him of her a little. It was both a good and a bad thing. He could see all of those qualities taking her very far in Star Fleet. On the other hand, some of those bold qualities were what got his wife killed. He knew the comparison was a little unfair though and he also knew that it was not his place to bring it up. In spite of how much it had hurt him to not stop his own wife from doing what she felt was right, he certainly couldn't think of trying to alter the path Beno might decide to walk. Such a woman would boldly go where she damned well pleased and the Fates help anyone who tried to tell them otherwise. His own daughter was showing strong signs of that mindset as well.

He had deliberately not eaten much on the planet, mostly for fear it might not have been entirely safe. With a glance and a nod, he agreed, "I could eat something."
