The Klingons, in fact, didn't keep much in the way of records. However, the clones did. The colony, for lack of a better term, started about ten years ago, when the first set of clones woke up simultaneously. The base's computer told them that the base had been abandoned decades prior but left in low power mode, with automated systems preserving the clone "blanks" to await the Dominion's return, which never came.
The clones activated with no specific memories beyond basic skills, and were told that the education systems were out of service. The cryo-freeze was also failing, which is why they were activated to decide what to do. They in turn activated the rest of what was viable, giving the colony its initial and only population. They built a fairly stable society, though one reliant on what tech was still working.
That was, until the Klingons arrived six months ago. Realizing what they had found, they tried to force the clones to fix the equipment, which was beyond their skills, and grew more violent and angry as the clones started to die. They had been reliant on supplements in their food from the replicators on site, but they were some of the first items the Klingons stripped from the base to sell. Without it - and with no way to make it without the replicators - they knew they were already dead. They tried to tell the Klingons, but they didn't care.
The Klingons had been in the midst of pulling most of their assets here since it didn't look like they were going to get what they wanted from the colony, but the last few were still working the clones to the bone, trying one last time to get the cloning facility back in operation, to no avail so far.
