Powl was intrigued by the plethora of information flooding in from the various departments. Not only were they dealing with a new civilization, but it may be the ONLY pieces of that civilization. The only chance of more would be the almost zero chance of survivors on Icarus III.
Krandall did finally speak up though, "Ensign Powl, how can I be of service?"
Torok turned his attention to Krandall. "Yes, Lieutenant. I had an idea to somehow retrofit some of the smaller craft on board into small starfighters. Naturally, this would enhance our tactical capability significantly. The Zephyr as you know is old, but I think we may be able to put some hands to work by either beginning the construction of starfighters in our bay, or modifying some of our already existing secondary craft into workable fighters. While fabrication is being done, I would like your input on both the feasibility of the concept, but if we were to do so, I would like your experience in fighters to be used both as input for the construction of the vessels, and with training of the pilots. Please consider and if you are in favor, we will need to present the concept to Captain Ameen.
Powl overheard the beginning of orders for an away team. Each of department received assignments. Mid Brennan had been assigned as the shuttle pilot for the team.
"Lieutenant Krandall, please take of the helm and we will continue the discussion later."
Due to the importance and delicate nature of this assignment, nearly all of the department heads were to be directly involved with the mission. Powl would remain on board.
