Taking the proffered orders Keir gave the new Midshipman a nod of respect and waited while the CO gave his greeting.
It was apparent to Keir who had now served with Cdr. Ameen for a while that he was pleased to see a Vulcan officer joining the team.
After all the drama that had occurred during this mission it would be a welcome break for both of them to have a new officer who would not follow down that path. The Midshipman was tall and physically impressive which would aid her in dealing with the kind of issues that a small crew could face.
After a brief glance at the orders Keir waited for the Commander to finish and nodded respectfully to their new officer.
"Yes indeed, welcome to Zephyr; what she lacks in polish and finery she makes up for it in sheer tenacity and toughness. We are a small crew Midshipman so I look forward to witnessing what you have to add to our team's efforts."
Turning hir head s/he spoke just loud enough for the COS to hear. "Lieutenant Gath you have a new officer." And with a nod to the Midshipman s/he added "I am certain that you will work well together Midshipman."
The FO's tone clearly and politely indicated that Ava was dismissed.
