As Sebastian and Ra’an walked toward the shuttle, he smiled when Ra’an said, "Not childish at all." Clearly, she understood what he was going through, Amila replied. "You still want to go on this mission, right?" She asked, seeking affirmation.
“Yes, oh yes, very much so. I’m curious to see if my theories are correct. I love a good mystery, and this is a true mystery.” Replied Sebastian, his tone sounding excited.
Ra’an then went on to explain, "Look, no one likes these things. We all wait until the last minute to put these helmets on," Amila assured him. "And on any mission, as soon as the atmosphere is established, a lot of people are ripping these things off."
Sebastian was relieved to hear that it sounded like others had issues with the EVA Suit helmets. It was nice to know that Sebastian wasn’t the odd man out, that he wasn’t some kind of man-child.
Ra’an then explained to Sebastian what options were available to him, "I'll tell you what. You give me a signal if you start to panic, though, and I'll send you back to the shuttle, okay? You need to be able to monitor our life signs and possibly transporters from there if I send you back," Amila suggested. "And seriously, consider setting up an appointment with Dr. O'fee. You know a lot of phobias come from somewhere. Might be something you don't even remember. It couldn't hurt to get to the bottom of it."
Sebastian examined the helmet in his hands as they walked closer to the shuttle. He examined it to see if there wasn’t some way to improve the overall design of these helmets, to make them more comfortable.
Sebastian considered Ra’an’s suggestion about seeing Dr. O’fee about his phobia. He had seen professionals about his claustrophobia, and they kept telling him it’s all in his mind, but he never felt that. “It was just all in his mind,” he felt there had to be a logical, rational reason. Maybe something in his childhood, but for the life of him, he couldn’t recall any childhood trauma that may have activated his claustrophobia, but maybe Dr. O’fee had some new information on the Cause of claustrophobia, or at least how best to treat it.
“ I will make an appointment with Dr. O’fee and see what can be done,” Sebastian said, with a hint of confidence.
Sebastian then looked at Lt. Gath, and he noticed the lieutenant’s helmet seemed different then his helmet. Gath’s helmet seemed to have a better field of vision than a standard EVA helmet. “Excuse me, Lieutenant, may I examine your helmet?” Said Sebastian.
