[Thanks Aer… Commander Miller] came the reply from Mara, the almost use of her first name, made Aeryn grin slightly despite the situation before her friend continued. [That’s a lot to take in. I’m gonna have to kick this upstairs, assumin’ Artemis has already junked that Klingon ship. We got survivors here, but as you say, there’s somethin’ terminally wrong with them. We gotta figure out what to do. Speak soon]
Kicking up to Tyra made a lot of sense to the redhead, especially if the away team was going to make the right decision when it came to the survivors, even if they didn't particularly like it. At the end of it all, they had a job to do, regardless of the moral questions raised.
" Acknowledged and speak soon", Aeryn said, before Yordan reminded her that it wasn't wise to go off on her own, and he was right, Mara wouldn't forgive either of them if something untoward happened. He also had the breaching gear, which would be very useful depending on the results of her scans. " You're right, and I've got a feeling we're going to need that gear". She might be wrong, but at least they would be prepared for such an eventuality.
Again, Aeryn couldn't say that she was surprised to find the unit's panel non-functional, and that meant breaching the door after all, which she left to Yordan. The blast of warm, rotten air that greeted them made Aeryn's stomach recoil until she took a couple of deep breaths and went inside. The size of it was the same as the other room they had just left, and nothing was functioning. Of course, it wouldn't be, considering what they knew about the Klingons. However, it was the sight of vial after vial of rotten samples, and the number of clone embryos that took Aeryn's breath away. All of them left to rot and wither, because at this point, she wouldn't be able to tell who or what the embryos would have been, and they couldn't take them back anyway to study further, because none of it was viable anymore.
" Leman, she began, dropping rank for a moment. " Look at all of this, I'm glad we checked it out, but it's horrible what they've done to it all".
