Sebastian appreciated that Lt. Gath pointed out that there were, in fact, several selections of helmets available. Quickly, he grabbed one that looked similar to Lt. Gath’s. Sebastian took a seat next to Dr. O’Fee. Sebastian felt a little embarrassed to ask her this, but Lt. Ra’an had said there was nothing childish about his claustrophobia. In a low tone, he whispered, “Excuse me, Doctor. I was wondering if, after this mission, if we could discuss the available treatments for claustrophobia.”
Sebastian felt like an idiot for having such an irrational fear; he sat there trying to remember what might have caused him to develop this phobia in the first place, but nothing came to mind. He had truly hoped that he could recall being locked in a closet, or the storage compartment of his parents' shuttle, or getting lost in a small, cramped cave, but nothing like that happened to him, unless he blocked it out and didn’t remember it.
Sebastian looked around the Shuttle, at the other members; they all looked so calm and brave,
Sebastian, you should be ashamed of yourself. Your colleagues are all brave and ready to face danger, but you're scared. You’re a scared little boy.
Sebastian sat there taking slow, steady breaths to calm his nerves. He kept telling himself that there was nothing to be scared of.
Sebastian decided to triple-check his equipment just to make sure he was prepared while he waited for Dr. O’Fee to reply to his question.
She’s probably asking herself how a grown man can be afraid of small, confined spaces.
Sebastian was hoping to conquer his claustrophobia, but for now, he was excited to see if his theories about the ship were correct.
