Mara had to bite down on the insecurities as she wandered down the unfamiliar corridor. She had every right to be here. It just felt almost alien to be here on what amounted to a social call. She was out of uniform, in black jeans and a plain long-sleeved top in pastel green, and for once there was no holster at her hip.
The COS was looking every bit as tired as she felt. Dark rings circled her eyes, and she wasn’t moving as easily as she normally did. Every now and then she reached out to balance herself against the corridor wall.
Eventually she reached the door to Tyra Crawford’s quarters. Calleja wasn’t even sure if the Captain would see her, but she felt it was well worth the ask. Even if the Lieutenant had plenty of baggage that she needed help figuring out, she was also fiercely loyal to her CO, and could in turn offer a supportive ear with no chance of anything discussed ever leaving the room.
Here goes nothin’ she thought to herself before reaching out and ringing the chime.
