Ens Ava Baldwin stood at the security station on the Bridge as the away team went about their mission. There wasn't any likelihood of another ship of this species attacking the Zephyr. It seems that this ship is at least one hundred thousand years old. Ancient propulsion system, cyogenics for the occupants, fortunate for the crew because the spaceship was damaged with a hole in its skin. But Ava knew she needed to be vigilant.
Ava listened to the coms traffic, keeping an eye on long-range scans for other ships in the vicinity. Now there's a word not often used about space travel. Vacinity could mean one hundred light-years away or about to dock with the Zephyr. Still, in this galaxy, the Federation had many friends and also many enemies. Other ships may have seen this anomaly in space with their highly tuned sensors and be on their way; who knows what their intent may be when they also distinguish the USS Zephyr on site.
Security is mainly concentrated on the safety of the crew. So Ava was multitasking, with her ears and one sensor eye on the away team and another ear and sensor eye on space, looking for any other curious visitors.
