== This is going to be a catch-up post. RL has hit me like a freight train the past couple of months, and so I have not been as active as I should. For this I apologize (no snark intended!) and am going to do my utmost to do better

It had certainly been a mission. Suddenly facing Jem'Hadar, a fight for their lives, sabotage. And whatever had happened, had turned him into a Tellarite. Thankfully he'd gotten better.
All that had been missing were lions, tigers and bears.
He arrived on the bridge just as the Captain informed Wright that the Ambassador was suspected of the sabotage and murder. His eyes widened for a moment before he took his seat, determined to keep his face straight.
He hated losing people. Especially something like this.
In combat against an enemy, in the defense of the Federation? It was awful, but...at least meaningful. This? Or the first time it had happened where a pilot had been killed because he'd caved when Pond asked him to bring a clearly unfit officer on the away team? Those stung worse. Much worse. Because they had been avoidable.
He wasn't going to make a scene here on the bridge, of course. So all he did instead was look to the Captain and ask discreetly enough that only she could hear him:
"Do you want to write the letters to the families, or do you want me to?"
Technically speaking, he figured it was his responsibility as XO, but he also knew that some Captains wanted to do something like that personally. And so he gave her the choice.
