The Broken Arrow

As Lieutenant Ra'an studied the hull plating it became apparent that the design was not something that she would have expected. There appeared to be a pressurized polymer between the lead sheets. She contemplated that the purpose likely could have been repair, but with the reaction that A'kilees phaser caused, she couldn't imagine that the polymer would have held up to any kind of high powered energy weapon.

But, this ship was old. Maybe they weren't contemplating alien enemies. Was it just meant to protect them from things like asteroids? Space debris?

[Lieutenant, I still think you should be careful. There's a pressurized polymer...] Ra'an began, but before she could finish her warning the piece of hull plating that Gath had been working on cracked and broke away.

[I stand corrected, my apologies,] Ra'an offered. [Ra'an to all away team members, use extra caution with your energy instruments that generate heat. It doesn't appear this ship was designed with the thought that such instruments even existed. That explosion appears to have been caused by a pressurized sealant. They could have similar technology throughout the ship that we might incidentally trigger if you aren't careful.] 

Ra'an had heard Dr. O'Fee's request for assistance earlier so she turned to Midshipman Cortez. [Midshipman, Cortez, you're with Dr. O'Fee, see if you can help get her power where she needs it. Call me on comms if you have questions.] 

She wanted to stay and study the hull plating longer, but there were more pressing matters to attend to. Maybe once the pods were safely off the ship...
