Sebastian was pulled back to the here and now when Lt. Ra’an’s voice came through the communications system [Midshipman, Cortez, you're with Dr. O'Fee, see if you can help get her power where she needs it. Call me on comms if you have questions.]
Sebastian looked at his tricorder and adjusted it to its lowest setting, just as Lt. Ra’an had recommended. He could feel his pulse starting to race; his heart was beating faster. He wasn’t sure if his anxiety was due to the mission or his claustrophobia, or a mix of both.
You have this, relax and breathe, Sebastian, relax, and breathe, slow, regular breaths, focus on the task at hand.
Sebastian was still hoping they could at least try to access the alien ship's computer; he couldn’t shake the feeling that they were opening Pandora’s Box; he couldn't shake the memories of reading about a then-Captain Kirk rescuing Khan Noonien Singh and his genetically modified followers. Sebastian knew getting that information would be vital because the Federation wasn’t ready for the possibility of a army of genetically modified super beings, Yes, he knew that he had no clear proof, as far as anyone knows, this was just a simple sleeper ship, survivors or a doomed civilization, or colonists from a lost world, but could they take that chance?
Sebastian isolated Lt. Ra’an’s communication channel. [Midshipman Cortez to Lt. Ra’an, Lieutenant, are we going to try and access the alien ship's computer, to find out who and what these people are doing, I mean, can we really afford another Kirk and Khan Noonien Singh situation on our hands. I would like to volunteer to try and access the computer.]
Sebastian stood there waiting for the Lieutenant to reply. He hoped that Lt. Ra’an would see the logic of his request, but he didn’t know if she would agree with him. He knew the evidence was lacking, but he felt better to be safe than sorry.
