Lucy wandered a little before checking Aeryn’s directions. This was definitely the land of Wordsworth and Turner. Exceptionally pastoral. It was perfect for the crew after what they’d encountered. Very little chance for some raucous karaoke, but there was always time for that much later on.
Lucy wore her favorite leather jacket, a hard wearing pair of ripstop cargo pants, a decent thermal long sleeved t-shirt, and a pair of walking boots. She had packed a raincoat along with her favorite hiking boots. This was England after all. The weather might hold, but she wasn’t taking chances.
She found the barbecue initially by smell then sight. Couldn’t miss Aeryn, Robin, Hally and Mara. There was also Jaein and someone she didn’t recognise. Lucy hadn’t been inclined towards water activities, then she saw the lake. She thawed towards the idea of paddle boarding. She had a volume from a guidebook series by some fella called Wainwright. It was an interesting read. Some things might have changed from his time, but nothing geologically significant.
This was definitely a shore leave for relaxing. Definitely a refresher for the soul. Literal or metaphorical she couldn’t figure which it was. She saw a hug exchanged between Hally and Mara. Her mom was a firm believer in hugs. There were ways to hug. It was nuanced and it had to mean something to the recipient. Honest expression of emotion. Lucy loved that with all her heart.
