In the couple of seconds that passed, Gath witnessed something he had become familiar with over time. For some it was a rare thing, but it was common to most humanoid species. In extreme circumstances, the perception of the passing of time slows down. It had been scientifically proven and was now able to be reproduced relatively easily in controlled environments. The body responds to an impulse from the brain sends a signal and instantly there is an increase of adrenaline and other similar biological interactions that increase metabolic levels and most importantly for Gath's observations, causes the brain to speed up the rate of synapse trafiic for a brief time.
As a result of this, Gath saw everything happening in slow motion for a few seconds. It was not the first time and he was confident that it would not be the last time. He saw the Doctor attempting to assist and calm Cortez, though it would likely make little difference unless something went terribly wrong with the transport process. Part of him was still bothered that he was having to leave the craft prematurely, but this opinion swiftly began to change as something caught his eye. A couple of cracks were forming in a wall. This first seemed like a shadow, but then clearly began to expand across the area of one part of the hull. He moved his eyes to see the same thing happening across another clear area of visible hull and his instincts told him it was likely happening in other areas he couldn't see.
His view began to be disolving into the blue haze of the transporter process, but he still had the time to realize that perhaps he had misjudged the situation a little and was now grateful that the team was being beamed back when they were. Had it been up to him, he might have lingered too long. The view blinked out for an almost impossibly small amount of time that he always saw as a bright flash that turned instanlyly dark, then the next fraction of a second later, the blue haze was decreasing and there was a new view in front of him.
Gath had been floating almost a meter above the deck of the craft, in a weightless state, but had appeared in Sickbay in a controlled state that was only a centimeter or two from the deck. He reflexively braced himself and predictably dropped the tiny distance to land on the deck, though if you weren't ready for it, you could sometimes twist an ankle or lose your balance as you were suddenly required to support your own weight once more. There was the slightest bend to his knees as he caught himself and he paused before standing normally when the process had completed entirely.
After all of that, Gath looked down to his gloved hand and confirmed that the module had survived the process intact. He then looked to the pods to see the flashing sequences begin to change and cursed under his breath. Would they be able to get power to them fast enough, or would they begin waking up in an uncontrolled manner?
