A01 - AUDITORIUM

[Brycen Deters]

Cadet Brycen shuffles into the auditorium in awe. Though it has been 5 years since he awoke from cryostasis to the shocking discovery that humankind was not alone in the galaxy, and his terminal brain tumor cured in what seemed like an instant dismantling everything he though he knew as a neurosurgeon in the 21st century, the strange new version of San Francisco he now found himself in still filled him with wonder and self doubt. It had been about 370 years or so since he'd worked his way though medical school as a bartender, and with great struggle and determination he finished in the middle of his class.

Now here he was, facing down the barrel of Starfleet Academy final medical exams. He'd spent 4 years catching up on nearly 4 centuries of medical research from dozens of alien species. Would it be enough? Would he find his place healing the sick among the stars, when what felt like just over 5 years ago he was a neurosurgeon of average talent ironically dying of brain cancer? This was the moment of truth.

"Cadet Deters, reporting for exams" he said sheepishly as he approached when his turn came up, not fully present as he tried to remember everything he'd learned all at once, in fear of forgetting everything on the day of his exams.
