A’kilees waved his tricorder around the walls and ceiling, rapidly scanning around the room scrambling to find the right power level tap while trying his best to avoid the away team, the medical team and the cryopods littered about the entire sickbay. There had to be a power emitter somewhere powerful enough to charge the pods somewhere in this room. He had been studying the Zephyr’s schematics given to him by Raven but currently he was drawing a blank, perhaps a lingering effect from his gravity disorientation, but he also knew he was also running out of time.
“A’kilees!” boomed a voice over the alarms from the direction of the Sickbay door, the saurian looked promptly over in that direction to see Ameen had arrived on the scene. To A’kilees, the commander looked as stressed as everybody else in the room but his authoritative presence was still distinguished in the face of all the chaos surrounding them. Ameen pointed towards the primary surgical assembly above the biobed. “The wall panels are too weak! Tear the panel off the surgical arch! Use the main EPS tap for the containment field generators!” he said as he went to wrassle control of the current situation.
Of course! A’kilees thought. Those high-output emitters are perfect!
“*Gwak* Yes sir!” A’kilees yelled back in acknowledgement and rushed his way over to the surgical support arch as swiftly as possible, pushing aside those in his way to get to the centre of the room. The Commander’s previous engineering experience and his extensive knowledge of the Zephyr’s systems was extremely timely and his call would hopefully save the people within the pods. The saurian jumped up onto the biobed and got his gloves on the panel and began to pull. The panel groaned under the strain.
“A’kilees? What do you need?” came a female voice from behind. Looking down, a few members of the medical team stood below him waiting anxiously.
“Grab those cables from the pods and bring them here! Most critical first! Hurry!” A’kilees ordered. As quickly as he said it, they were off to grab the cable ends. The saurian turned his attention back to the arch. “Sorry Doc” A’kilees said to himself as he yanked hard once again and ripped the panel off the arch with a large bang and tossed it to an unoccupied part of the room with a crash. “I promise to fix ALL of this after this is over.” he panted as he began pulling the power cables out of the taps and moving aside all unessential components to get a direct view of the main EPS feed. A’kilees surmised that he would need to quickly improvise to modify the cables to plug directly into the power feed. The saurian could also feel the exhaustion of the mission starting to get to him but it was too early to call it quits.
“Here A’kilees!” the same female medical voice came from below. The medical ensign had returned and held up one of the pods' power cables as high as she could. A’kilees bent down and upon grabbing the cable gnashed his sharp reptilian teeth around the cable casing and pulled hard, ripping off the outer sheath and exposing the inner conductors. His mouth ached and his teeth twinged with pain as he spat out the casing to the floor. Ignoring the discomfort, he began to clamp the cables directly into the main power feed. A’kilees did this over and over; the cable ends arrived, he tore the casings with his jaws and spat them on the floor (some covered in a mix of spit and drops of saurian blood) and were clamped and secured to the energy grid. As the last cable was quickly fastened into the EPS feed, A’kilees wheeled his attention over to the critical pods lying on the floor, wiping his mouth dripping with blood. The critical cryopods' power indicated a solid red light but they were surely receiving power directly from the Zephyr. Had he made it in time?
