Keir shook hirself out of the concentration s/he had been maintaining and took a few seconds to gather hir wits before turning to face the CSO.
S/he paused to give the subject consideration and smiled wryly in response top the question.
Turning to face the CSO s/he responded "That is an excellent question, I'll get on that."
Accessing hir tricorder, the First officer the CSO initiated a scan hoping to find an answer to that excellent question, and added a request in response.
"Is your tricorder noticing anything that mine might not be?"
It didn't hurt to see if there was different data that could be found employing both department's tricorders
