AT/D13 - Security Complex

Calleja was sat behind her desk, which was in itself something of a rarity. The novelty of having an office had worn off quickly. The Security Chief was someone who wanted to be in the middle of things, in the action and calling the shots. Not tied to a certain place and expecting everyone to come to her, because that wasn’t how she operated.

It is good for a quiet coffee though, I’ll give it that. Close the door, have some peace.

The mission logs, injury reports and promotions hit different after what happened on the clone base, and the Bandaran was looking for an excuse to procrastinate and focus on something that was much less heavy going.

And then the perfect excuse walked right through the door.

"Hey Mara, I like what you've done with the place,” Aeryn said.

“Hey you. Yeah, I had a tough act to follow, so I figured I needed to make it mine,” came the reply as she got up. “Plus, the coffee is pretty damn good. You want one?” Mara asked. “‘Cause I could really use one right now. I hate paperwork and I need some kip.”

The Amazonian officer wasn’t quite her usual self, the mission having taken a toll mentally and particularly on her sleep patterns. There were darker patches of skin under her eyes from hours staring at the ceiling.
