Sebastian felt so embarrassed and humiliated. His crewmates were fine, very professional, but he was afflicted with claustrophobia. His breathing was labored; he felt like a fool. He looked around and felt as if everyone was watching him, thinking he was less than an ideal officer.
They probably think you're a pathetic loser.
"Doctor O'Fee, get that suit off Midshipman Cortez before he hyperventilates. Medical team, help A'kilees with those cables. Move!" Ordered the Captain.
Sebastian watched as Dr. O’Fee approached. She radiated compassion. In many ways, she reminded him of his abuela. Sebastian's mother's mother, Abuela Aguilar was always kind and made everyone feel at ease, a kind, compassionate woman, who was the President of an Aerospace Company, who enjoyed painting and pottery in her spare time. Dr. O’Fee was so gentle, he smiled when she said, "I am taking this off of you." She said softly while starting the process. " I am going to need your help with this." She saw most of her medical staff working on the cables; there were a few who were forbidden from doing such tasks. Their hands would be compromised, and she couldn't have that.
"Just keep seated here," said Dr. O’Fee while looking him in the eyes. "You were very brave out there. Courage isn't something we do while we are not afraid. It is what we do while we are scared out of our minds; these people are still alive because of your actions." She was mostly keeping her attention from the construction going on; it had an important purpose and prevented any negative response from her.
Shaking his head, “NO, no…!, ..I was a pathetic example of a Star Fleet Officer, Parecía un completo idiota.” Said Sebastian through clenched teeth. Then, suddenly, the slight hiss of his helmet being removed, “ Doctor, is there anything that can be done for this…this… ???” Said Sebastian, struggling to find the right word, “This, childish affliction?”
Sebastian felt like a complete failure. Everyone on the Away mission was flawless; they executed their assigned tasks like true professionals, but he was a pathetic failure.
