Security gets a bad rap for being a bunch of meatheads and having a hairpin trigger on your temper certainly doesn't help. I should know; I know I wield a more icy rage these days but I was an explosive hothead back in the day."
"Experience will temper it some but you'll likely come to realize the same thing I did. Anger can be useful when controlled but it'll eat you alive and rule you otherwise. You have too much potential for that, Mara," she added, tipping her glass in a half toast before taking a mouthful.
Her exhale came out with that familiar feeling of warmth spreading up through her chest. "I know the briefing was... a cluster and I still don't have my head entirely wrapped around the whole thing. I know there's a lot of behind the scenes politicking and I'm almost dreading going back because of that..."
"All the same, Ican't imagine morale is too good at the moment. No first officer, no permanent chief engineer and a captain that isn't entirely sure she'll have a command chair when she gets back. Almost makes me missing the ******* Cardassians," she said wryly.
"With all of that in mind, anything you want to get off your chest or rage against? I won't take any offense, I promise."
