As the Klingon lieutenant came over to provide assistance, the Sickbay lights all dimmed slightly for a few seconds before returning to normal. The brightening room also reilluminated the pods arranged on the floor. The saurian looked intently at the three most critical pods he had first hotwired into the EPS relay to assess their current status. The solid red indicators signifying critically low power had switched to a pulsing amber color. They were indeed receiving power directly from the Zephyr and appeared completely stabilized.
Thank goodness.
A’kilees let out a loud sigh of relief and sat himself down on the biobed. His plan he proposed on the Bridge had worked, albeit for a number of issues along the way, but at the end of it all he and the away team had succeeded in their mission with the crucial support of the Zephyr crew. A’kilees couldn’t help feeling rather accomplished in that moment. He looked at Gath and gave him a wide and somewhat bloody saurian smile and began to remove the rest of his eva suit.
“I think…we're all good Lieutenant, but perhaps you can recommend a decent dentist?" A’kilees asked jokingly as he rubbed his jaw. His mouth was still in a lot of pain, there was a slight dribbling of blood and one or two teeth felt loose in his mouth but his high spirits were enough to distract him for the time being. It was at that moment that Ameen came over towards the two. The commander inspected A’kilees’ injury and then turned his attention towards the bent arch panel and spit and blood covered wire casings scattered on the floor before addressing him.
“Brutal, but effective, Midshipman A’kilees” he commended. “I’ll have Engineering send down a replacement panel for the surgical arch, but you just bought them their lives. Well done.” A’kilees thought he had seen Ameen smile ever so slightly while giving him this compliment but chalked it up to him being quite worn out from the day's events.
"Thank you very much Commander.” the saurian replied. “I'll be sure to apologize to Doctor O’Fee for the mess and either I or another engineer will be happy to do any necessary repairs later.” The commander nodded in acknowlegement then addressed Gath.
“Lieutenant Gath, see if you can assist him in securing those lines so nobody trips over them.” Ameen instructed before heading over to join Dr. O’Fee who was attending Cortez.
A further sense of pride filled the saurian; he considered the commanders’ recognition of his efforts high praise not just from a superior officer but from a well experienced fellow engineer. Any sensation of fatigue had left him in at that moment, A’kilees hopped off the biobed and looked back towards Gath.
“Well then Lieutenant, let’s clear the floor of any wire obstructions then *gwark!*” he exclaimed.
