Tes sniffed the air as he arrived. Fresh and clear and… warm. Although the casual black shapeless dress he was wearing was breezy enough, he already felt the sun beating down through his white hair and on his scalp.
Should’ve worn a hat or something… he thought.
Still, a good start to my first assignment.
Although he wasn’t at all a social butterfly, he figured that the fresh air would do him some good, especially his brain, which was stuck on his latest composition.
Fresh out of the Academy, he was still quite green, though if you were to say that to his face, he’d probably make an awkward attempt at humor, saying something like: “No, no, I’m very much blue.”
Midshipman Tes Th’etellis was a very tall, yet physically unintimidating young man. Everything about him was thin and tall: his legs, his torso, his arms, his fingers. Often, when he was working, he had his medium-length hair pulled back into a small ponytail, but it was down, as of right now. His blue eyes flitted across the scenery, positioned just above the hooked bridge of his nose, which took an inhale of the air once more, catching the smell of the food at the table nearby.
He was fairly uninteresting in the looks department, save for a mildly genetically inherited cleft lip from his chen father and dark blue eyebags, also genetic, but inherited from his zhen mother. He wondered how they were doing, now that their only son had graduated. He knew they were proud, of course; they had made that abundantly clear. But the four of them were missing him, no doubt.
It was with this in mind that Tes looked out on the lake and retreated to a nearby tree to sit in the shade so he’d at least be cooler without the sun beating down on him. From his bag, he produced a DataPADD, which he began to open up the file containing his most recent composition.
He stared at the staves with a cocked eyebrow for a moment before sighing and deleting the mess of supposed “counterpoint” he had written at about two in the morning the night before. With the peaceful sounds of nature around him and the mostly distant sound of his new crew fueling him, he began to continue the movement he was formulating.
