Tes looked up, and for a millisecond, his antenna was the first to swivel towards Dr. Mayfair; his head followed very soon afterwards. Then, he turned his whole body and set his DataPADD down, laying his hands in his lap.
His mind flashed back to the scenarios his parents had drilled into him right after he had graduated from the Academy, knowing he was socially awkward and anxious. They had sat, walked him through greeting a higher-up, then rehearsed it with him multiple times until he no longer had to think too much about it.
First, a smile, acknowledge the other.
Tes gave a polite smile, though his awkwardness shone through a little. “Lieutenant Commander Mayfair! It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
He extended his right hand, his palm a little slick with sweat, half from the heat and half from his own nerves.
