== NRC Cindy Talion, Synthetic ==
Cindy briefly looked down, perhaps a tiny bit embarrassed and there was just a hint of a blush response before she looked back up to meet Carley's eyes, "Carley, I'm not avoiding people, but not everyone is equally enthusiastic to share my company."
For a couple f nanoseconds, she contemplated explaining it to Carley. Her calculations reminded her that Alex was often guilty of over explaining things to people and that actually often had the exact opposite impact from his intentions. It turned out that most people didn't really want to know the real answers, but preferred their illusions. To organics, perception was reality.
Cindy then said, "I was just enjoying the view, but I would be delighted to join you. Thank you."
Carley had a valid point. It wasn't that Cindy thought like a scientist, but that her current behavior was indeed more reserved at the moment. There was a concern that at any moment, she would be told to go back inside her proverbial box. In the ship's computer, she was listed as "professional equipment" that Alex had brought onto the ship with him. Cindy didn't mind it, as it was an accurate account of her status. What Carley had poinyed out though, was that Cindy's ability to interact with the crew was a critical feature of her programming. Her effectiveness in communicating and interacting with them depended heavily upon the illusion that she was and organic human person. The more they thought of her as a person and the less they thought of her as a program, the more effective she was at doing her job.
Cindy then followed Carley over toward Lt Khasim.
