Tes thought for a moment. True, he wasn’t particularly interested in socialising, but he also knew that meeting the higher-ups now would be easier than meeting them later in uniform.
But then, of course, there was the matter of his composition project, which was sitting on his powered-off DataPADD, untouched and unfinished. He would like to have it finished soon.
But then again, it could be done at a later time.
And then came the matter of ‘The Other Tes’, as his friend Cadet Santtu Uljas at the Academy had called it: his natural drive to be ‘in with the crowd’.
Humanoids don’t function well on their own for extended periods of time, Andorians especially. Tes knew this. So there was always The Other Tes in the back of his mind practically begging to be around others. In the Academy, usually dragged around by Cadet Uljas, he did indulge The Other Tes and did socialise, usually at parties and other gatherings, one of which Uljas and an engineering cadet got into mild trouble for replicating hazardous material: an ancient Terran drink called ‘Monster Energy’ that was banned in the late 20th century for adverse health effects.
That was also the party where Cadet Uljas had given him a margarita, failing to mention the salt on the rim. It was probably on purpose.

Tes pushed his lips into a thin line as he thought. He opened his mouth to speak.
“Yeah, sure. I think that’s a good idea.”
