"A little gift from one Chief to another,” Aeryn said, changing the subject swiftly. “I'd originally wanted to give it to you before now, but things got in the way."
The Bandaran’s eyebrows raised as she took the box and opened it carefully.
“Holy shit,” she said softly as she lifted out the dagger. “Aeryn, are you sure? That’s some gorgeous work right there.”
She held it up to the light and smiled as she admired the leatherwork on the grip. It balanced perfectly on her finger as she tested the weight, and the silvered blade flashed as she dextrously flicked it around and into her hand.
“I really don’t know what to say. ‘Thanks’ don’t quite cut it. Unlike this,” Mara joked, but her gratitude was definitely real.
