Daniel was a little surprised by the revelation about Mala's situation, as it seemed very difficult to be in. He knew of a couple of very good lawyers back on Earth that could possibly help in that regard but it seemed that Commander Talion had been of very good assistance.

“ No commander you wouldn’t be Grandparents you would be godparents , in case anything happened to me. I would want my daughter to be raised by honest, caring people, people who could protest her, watch over her and guide her. Like I said, my parents and my siblings are too focused on their careers, my grandparents on my dad’s side are strict Vulcan's to the hilt and really don’t have the patience to raise a young mixed race child. My mother’s mothers mother, my beloved Nanna, she is just old and too close to the Noble Houses on Betazed.” Said Jez, her tone neutral and hopeful.
Daniel leaned forward slightly in his chair and said,
"Of course I would graciously accept your request Jez. As for your other difficulties I'm sure myself, alongside Velaul and Talion will do our utmost to protect you and your child from any further problems. I will request through due to your role as a security officer that you will always be paired with someone, not take any risks and keep up with Sickbay. I would like to be updated with any medical concerns as I use to be a chief medical officer." he said giving her a smile before they went on with the actual debrief.
It was interesting to hear Mala take on the situation while Velaul tried to sit it back into the usual political movements that was seen in so many governments across the known universe.
Taking a sip of his peppermint tea he placed the cup down in its saucer and said,
"I think it is refreshing to hear a fresh take on the situation. Politics can be a dirty business and it is difficult to know who to trust, even when you are at the top of the tree. Someone can undermine you and before you know it you are out. Exiled into another place, not knowing what to do next. You are right Mala in that it wouldn't be the first time a military arm has taken power over a government. We just need to hope that our actions and even those not taken have inspired these people to look at things at a different perspective to the one they had. We can only really hope for the strength of our restraint was enough for them to see there is a better way forward."
He paused, "I'm sure the Federation will look at this place more closely in future and who they decide can be Ambassador there along with working out how to get the place to unify and be more thinking of the greater good for all then just a few."
