Lakes and Recreation - Artemis Shore Leave

The response Aeryn got from Mara wasn't surprising and yet she chose to let her vent her anger because the redhead wouldn't be going anywhere. Robin got a similar reply while Beka tried to put some distance between her and the furious COS. All Aeryn could muster was a look towards her ex, wondering if there had ever been a time that she hadn't caused something like this. A thought she decided wasn't worth the effort because this time she was on Mara’s side.

Aeryn also appreciated Robin's assistance, allowing her to navigate the situation without getting hit in the process, especially when Mara refrained from killing Beka, becoming more vulnerable as she kept talking. She sympathised with her friend, knowing what it was like to not have a lot up top, how she used to hide behind more modest clothing until she learned to embrace what she had been given.

The CSO couldn't let Mara suffer any further embarrassment even if it let Beka temporarily off the hook. “ This was a step too far,” Aeryn agreed as Gray arrived with towels, having followed Aeryn and Robin. “ But let's salvage what we can from it and you can come with me to get dry and change Mara”.

She didn't know if Beka would realise how lucky she was and apologise but for now Mara needed her more as she handed Mara a towel.
