Alex was impressed with the choice in drink. The Samarian Sunset was very difficult to pull off, from a technical perspective. He held up a finger to her to wait befor initiating it and said to her, "There's also a tradition that has mostly been forgotten, that the initiating of the color should come from the clinking of your glass with another. However, you can only do so once with this drink, so one must be quite selective in the choice. It can mean different things, depending on the local custom, but it is always considered significant in some way."
He then held his glass up to her's and as they tapped them together, it initiated the reaction. Others tried the same, but some colors were different than others. Alex glanced around and added in a hushed tone, "Some hold the colors to be omens for the future, but it is actually the glass used and the accuracy of the mixture that reveals the resonance. Still, it does make for a great story. It appears your idea is quite a hit. I applaud your sense of showmanship."
All around them, people were talking about the drinks. Alex gave her a wink, "Well played."
Alex was then surprised by the telepathic comment from Jez, ~I told you she had a thing for you.~
He no outward sign at all of having received the message, but sent back a reply, ~I was just informed that this is our first official date. I confess that I'm a little nervous, though I'm unsure if that is a good thing or not. I guess that if I'm nervous, then it must mean that I care about the end result.~
Alex was amused by Carley. He had been a bit wild in his past as well, but he hoped none would hold it against him. He wasn't proud of some of his behavior back then, but sometimes that was part of the fun of being young. She finally asked if Alex and Beno were going to dance. He replied, "Well, should the lady wish to dance, I would certainly not deny her. This dress practically begs to be on display in some form and I would think that a dance might be a perfect form or doing so."
Talion was being every bit the gentleman and the grin on his face reflected his confidence in the fact that he had been well instructed in the art of various forms of dancing for public events. There were a constant schedule of diplomatic and social gatherings that he was required to attend with his parents from an early age on.His sister had been quite instrumental in helping him to learn how and where to place his hands. Alex was quite light on his feet and for his size, he was graceful and had a good sense of timing. He drew the line at some culturally significant dances, as they could be overly complicated and you had to take care about when a dance wasn't just a dance. However, he was all too aware that in a great many social situations, dancing was used as a means to evaluate each other on how well the two could work together and trust each other, but of course that always depended on the dance.
Beno wasn't a telepath or an empath, but she had now spent enough time around Alex that she was able to pick up on some things. One of those was that while he was around, she could literally feel something different. The room felt safer, more comfortable. The room might seem more comfortable, less loud, the lght not quie as harsh. She knew the room hadn't actually changed, but there was some form of perception that could recognise a tangible sense of his protective nature. He didn't impose it in any way and he never said anything about it, but it was there. It was a known quality about some Betazoids, that they often had a calming presence in a room, but that was always things people simply said. Now, having spent increasingly more time with Alex, as their working relationship and day to day connection with each other had increased, she could understand more clearly how Betazoids created relationships with a depth that was hard to put into words, even with their friends. The deeper the relationship, the stronger the connection. Standing there, next to Alex, she was acutely aware of the connection. It had not been sudden or unexpected, but it was now something that she was consciously aware of.
== Tag to all, but especially Beno, Carley and Jez ==
