While A'kilees was running his diagnostic, Raven came over and  gave him a firm pat on the shoulder, "Well done, hotshot! I heard all about your efforts. You realize that after doing that trick, the brass is going to expect us to all be able to strip cables with our teeth now. You know that, right?"  She chuckled and shook her head, "Well, they already expect us to do miracles, but that was one heck of a way to make an impression."  She leaned closer and said in a more conspiratorial tone, "We won't mention you trying to blow everyone up by using a phaser as a cutting torch. That part will get left out of the stories at the bar."

She then pointed at the schematic on view and commented, "I think you're pretty safe. You tapped into a main feed and those lines and systems are designed with high margins of tolerance. Individual subsystems might be more delicate, but that feed can handle multiple full containment fields and minor transporter functions at the same time. Unless those pods spring thrusters and try to use our power grid to fly themselves somewhere, you should be good. It was only the initial jolt of the full power demand of all of them at once that even made the system send me a warning."

She leaned on the display and looked at A'klees with a smile, "You're a bit rough around the edges, but you've got good instincts and guts. Next time try to think it through a little more. Never use a phaser unless you don't have the right tools. A plasma torch is a very controlled beam and would have still given you a reaction, but it would have been much more controlled. Improvisation is certainly a necessary skill, but planning ahead let's you use the right tool for the job. Between you and I, you're amazingly lucky that you weren't about a centimeter closer when you had that cable in your mouth, because you would have had that entire connection suddenly going through your skull. The slightest bit of feedback and it would have left almost nothing of you to scrape up. Either way you would be VERY dead."

Her tone was not quite joking, but not scolding either, just matter of fact. Raven was still grinning though and with a wink added, "We'll just call that your safety briefing and leave it at that. I would much rather celebrate the win than beat you up about what might have gone wrong. Do we understand each other?"
