Alex automatically turned to see Beno coming as soon as she was within line of sight again, as if he knew she was approaching. When he did that, there was a hint of a feeling again. She hadn't had much to drink yet, so it was an odd thing to be feeling right then, but it was consistent. Alex's look was warm and welcoming.
When Beno asked, "Miss me anyone?" Alex smiled and took a step forward to greet her. She then explained about her makeup.
Alex replied, "Well, I might need some pointers myself, if I'm going to be wearing more of your makeup again. I have to say that my method might be a bit messy, but I do enjoy trying to get it right."
He had placed his jacket on the back of his chair and rolled his sleeves up a bit. Seeing him normally in his uniform, it was easy to forget how solid Alex was. The shirt he was wearing was well tailored to him, but it also looked like it barely contained him. Beno was well practiced at reading body language and she could tell that Alex was doing his best to restrain himself around her now. He still had a hard time taking his eyes off of her and for all of his calm, he was like a coiled spring of potential energy. Every movement was deliberate and done with care. Their dance had made her intimately familiar with the feel of him against her and that he was a gentle giant by choice. He was a contradiction in that he had expressed a strong dislike of violence, yet had fought Borg hand to hand. His eyes held the same heat that she had seen when they were dancing and he was hiding it rather well, at least to the untrained eye.
Alex then spoke up, "So, when will we see the Captain? I'm presuming our floor show wasn't the only thing happening tonight."
