Lakes and Recreation - Artemis Shore Leave
#69
A vulnerable Mara was something that very few got to see, and while Aeryn was sure getting away from the group, even for half an hour or so, would be a good thing, it appeared as though her friend was keen to get away and not come back. The redhead understood Mara's reluctance to return, since it would inevitably be talked about, though if people were smart, they wouldn't bring it up in proximity to the COS. Otherwise, Aeryn had a feeling she wouldn't be able to stop any repercussions. Hopefully, everyone would move on and enjoy what was left of the afternoon, and put this to the back of their minds.

Easier said than done for Mara, though, who was equally regretting stepping in to deal with the raised voices that had led to her moment of embarrassment. " That was instinct, Mara, and nothing to do with you being one of the group. You just happened to get there before I did".

As host, Aeryn should have been the one to deal with it first, but it didn't always work out that way, and she hoped that if she had been the one to land in the lake because of Beka, Mara would be doing the same for her right now. Then again, Aeryn knew that to be true, as Mara spoke of not ruining both of their days by telling Aeryn to stay. No, she wasn't about to let Mara go off alone, and if anyone had ruined anything, it had been Beka and the Bajoran woman Robin had spoken to.

" I'm going with you, you're my friend, and I'm not going to abandon you because of what Beka did. So let's go to the pub, get you changed and then we'll come back here, unless you want to go horse riding? Or do something else fun?

Aeryn had heard Robin mention it, and it could be an option for when they returned, or well, there was plenty to do, if the COS didn't want to return to the BBQ area straightaway.
