Alex chuckled, "Well, I was a different kind of kid. I preferred to be left to my room and my hobbies. Being sent to my room was a break from obligations and being around people I didn't like. My sister was the social one. She got me to go out and do things with her. My mother tried to get me to engage in such things, but my sister knew how to talk to me." He shrugged, "Maybe it was a twin thing as well. I was devastated when she died. It took me a while to create the first versions of what would eventually become Cindy. I had lost the part of me that was connected to the outside world. She was daring and bold, not in a heroic way, but in that she wasn't afraid to try new things and meet new people. She sang, danced and never stopped chasing life. She was art and I was science. She would dream up things and I would find ways to make them happen."
Alex wrinkled up his face, "You really thought of your room as a prison cell? Mine was a sanctuary. My private world has always been a safe place where I could escape from the rest of the universe when I needed to. It still is. I'll have to show it to you sometime."
To punctuate his last sentence, he added a wink and a devilish grin.
