"It’s alright,” Tes said. “The craziness, I mean. I had a friend in the Academy: Santtu Uljas. Everywhere he went, it seemed, chaos and nonsense followed."
"Good. You'll fit right in, then," Robin replied.
The new arrival didn’t seem too phased by the antics, and for that at least Beka was grateful. She still had the hiking dress with ‘redheaded chaos machine’ proudly emblazoned across the front. What Robin had meant as a throwaway comment still rang true and the dress made the redhead smile every time she saw it.
"Real quick, Beka, before I head out. I had a talk with that... officer. I can't force her to do it, obviously, but I suggested she offer you a sincere apology. Don't know if she will. It's entirely up to you whether you want to press charges. She did assault a superior, even if that barely counts as a tap for a martial artist. If you don't want to let it slide you might want to let Nat handle the details so you don't have to talk to Mara." The CMO gave a noncommittal shrug. "Whatever you decide I'm cool with it."
“I’ll let things cool down and then make a call,” Sydesh replied. “I’m still a bit riled up. Nearly getting publicly murdered will do that to a girl,” she finished with a waspish smile.
"Good meeting you, Tes. See you on board the ship."
The redhead gave her friend a mock salute before turning back to the Andorian.
“So Artemis lesson one. Do not upset Chief Calleja. I’ve learned that one the hard way and I absolutely do not want you to have to suffer like I did. She’s mellowing out a lot, but that woman is still terrifying. I’ve heard the stories about her ripping through Cardassians and Klingons and seen her in full flow on a pirate base. Don’t bring that down on yourself.”
Beka chuckled under her breath and shook her head slowly.
“So tell me about yourself. What’s your specialty? Where do you want to be a few years down the line?” she asked after a moment. “I can’t promise your ideal shifts straight off the bat. But I’ll do the best I can for you. Just… Maybe do as I say, rather than as I do. Especially at parties,” she finished with a genuine smile.
The doctor did not have a good record at parties, and today’s escapades likely wouldn’t crack the top 3 worst outings.
At least this time, I didn’t get publicly dumped whilst dressed as Ghost Rider.
