K’Vada smiled when Cologero got his pips. She felt a surge of pride that her friend got promoted. Tactical was a very difficult position to get promoted, as on one level, you were a junior officer, but often your actions determined the outcome of a mission. It was often a position that was filled with a huge amount of pressure; one needed broad shoulders to succeed as a Tactical Officer.
K’Vada noticed a large Human enter. She watched as he seemed to be scanning for someone. The Human was tall, heavyset, with dark hair and cold, dead blue eyes; he had a scar over his right brow.
K”Vada smiled at Cologero and said, “Congratulations, well done.”

Mike kept looking at Brooks. Things weren’t jiving with what he remembered. He recalled a brilliant young Doctor on Copernicus, by the name of Brooks, but this man looked similar to the Doctor who had treated him for his eye injury
Is the Aquila a medical ship?
Mike will never forget that day. He had been part of an Away Team, he had just made Lieutenant, they had beamed down to Osara VI, a disputed planet near the Gorn, Klingon, and Federation Space. The Gorn had illegally seized the planet, even though the treaty clearly stated that Osara VI was clearly in Federation Space. The Federation had a colony on Osara VI twenty years prior.
Mike’s orders were to secure the colony’s communications center. He was in a heavy firefight with the Gorn; his phaser was near empty. His only recourse was hand-to-hand combat. The Gorn took out a bladed weapon and caught Mike in the eye, just as Mike bent over in excruciating pain, two Midshipmen caught the Gorn in a crossfire with a heavy stun.
Mike was beamed directly to the sickbay on the Copernicus. They did everything they could to save his eye, but the damage was too extensive; he lost it and had to have an ocular implant. His artificial eye was state-of-the-art fifteen years ago; he could read temperature and humidity levels and measure distance without a tricorder.
Mike looked at Brooks and said, “Excuse me, by chance did you serve on the Copernicus, fifteen or so years ago, Snapping his finger, your, Doctor…B..B..Booker, no Brooks? You're Doctor Daniel Brooks, aren't you?"
Mike would rather be anyplace other than here; he could feel his stomach knotting up, he had practiced what he was going to say a million times, and he just wasn't comfortable. He looked around to see if he could find Jez, but she wasn’t there.
