"Science cracks the safe and gives us the language. Medical wakes up our guest. Let's find out who we rescued."
Amila grinned at the Commander's summary of their orders. His casual way had always made her comfortable. As first officer on the Titania, he was even known to make a joke or two in a tense moment. She was ready to get to it, but a few other officer's had some points to add, and then they heard from Midshipman Cortez, who she had left in the lab.
The Borg database. What in the universe were they up to down there.
She was actually surprised that the Commander gave them access so freely and without question, and wondered what it might turn up. She was more eager than ever to get back down to the lab.
Amila clocked the Commander's updated orders on her request for the Faraday Cage, "Send Midshipman A'kilees up to Science to assist Lieutenant Ra'an in constructing the Faraday cage there."
Perfect. They could get started right away. It shouldn't take long.
At the word, 'dismissed,' Amila instinctively rose from her seat and began walking toward the door. She was almost out of the Ready Room when a communication came in from the Security Chief. What stood out to her most was his warning: he didn't know that they could be contained securely on the ship.
That made Lieutenant Keti's concerns about potentially calling in more of their kind even more alarming. Still, they didn't know if this species was even hostile at this point. They needed more answers, and the most likely source was sitting in her lab waiting to be tapped.
She raised her eyes to look at the others. "Well, we better make sure that Faraday Cage is locked up tighter than an anti-matter containment field."
She turned to the first officer who was still also the ship's chief engineer, "I'll go get started on that right away. Commander Keir, we'll reach out for some simulations on the integrity before attempting to open up the box."
