"Situation is normal externally," Torok replied to Amila with his typical Vulcan seriousness. "It would seem there is a significant "hustle and bustle" to try and use the human term, seen throughout the crew, in an attempt to return functions closer to normal activity. The Captain is in a meeting with Commander Kier at the moment. What is the situation with the crew of the Broken Arrow?"
'Hustle and bustle,' Amila couldn't help but find some joy in his use of the term. She'd never judge anyone's culture, or at least she tried not to. But she sort of felt sorry for the stifled way that Vulcan's lived. It used to make her nervus to work alongside them - getting the sense that their emotional suppression made them superior, but she'd come to learn that really most of the ones she'd met through Starfleet did know how to smile, even laugh, even if they were hesitant to.
"Dr. O'Fee probably has a better answer," Amila replied. "They seemed to make it over here okay - and still in stasis. I've been in the lab with what we hope is the ship's main data recorder. Hopefully we know more soon," she said casually before the doors opened to the Ready Room, letting her and Keti inside.
== Not long later ==
The senior officers trickled out of the Ready Room, Dr. O'Fee went right to the turbolift, her mind clearly focused on what she was set to do next. Amila also looked determined, but she paused. Gath's comm during the meeting had her thinking even more about how important it was that that they not accidentally send out a hail, or wake one of the people up before they were ready. Having an engineer help her build the Faraday cage would be useful, it's what she wanted. But testing it. Their tactical department would certainly be useful for that.
"Lieutenant, while we were discussing the people and my black box, it's been brought up that they are pretty advanced genetically. Stronger than any of of us in a way that we wouldn't even be able to contain one on the ship if they were to be hostile," she mentioned. "I'm about to work with engineering to turn my lab into a Faraday cage before we attempt to unlock the alien computer. We are worried it could be set to send out a signal possibly. Do you think you could work out a way to help us test it when it's ready?" she asked.
"I'm thinking from a tactical standpoint," she added. "In the off chance that there is someone still around who might be looking, waiting for something come from that. It just seems too easy to open. It's a math puzzle - if it works. And these people seem built, created for war."
