“Um, my specialty? Well, I’d say I’m decent in the field of diagnostics. I’m usually pretty good at determining the cause of symptoms fairly quickly.” Tes paused, his antennae drooping.
“I don’t know,” he said at last, answering the other part of the question. “I guess I’ll just… take life as it comes.”
That one drew a dry chuckle from Beka.
“Yeah, I can understand that,” she answered. “I wish I’d had the presence of mind to be a bit more reactive when I started. But hey, I didn’t. It kinda worked out for me but there’s… There’s been some bumps in the road.”
There was a knowing smile on the redhead’s lips. She knew all too well that Th’etellis was going to hear all sorts of stories the moment he set foot in Sickbay, and some of them would be true.
There’s so many tall tales doing the rounds these days that even I don’t know what I actually did or didn’t do. Some of them sound so believable!
“If you’re a diagnosis ninja, we can definitely work together,” Sydesh added. “My specialty is emergency medicine, and I’ve found a niche as the ship’s lead trauma surgeon. This crew will never cease to amaze you with the new and interesting ways they find to have things inserted into their bodies that shouldn’t be there. Knowing what else they’ve damaged aside from the obvious is a never-ending struggle.”
After a moment, she looked longingly over at the barbecue.
“OK, I can’t take it any more, I need some food and a drink. Can I get you anything while I’m up?” Beka asked.
