"Lieutenant Powl," Izzy began, "Starfleet Command had indicated that we are to continue our current heading toward Deep Space Nine. They are sending a heavy cruiser and a science vessel for intercept. They want us to have the stasis pods and data module prepared for transfer. Time for intercept is -8 hours."
Torok stood from the center chair in response to the Priority One message from Star Fleet. While the intercept was quite clear on the rest of the orders, the only part that remained a question is if the Zephyr was to cease their investigation completely due to the upcoming exchange.
"Acknowledged, Officer Molina. Please forward the message immediately to Captain Ameen and Commander Keir. Lieutenant Gath, while I would never recommend disobeying direct orders, perhaps we should inquire if this new presentation of orders from Star Fleet will modify what Captain Ameen would instruct the crew to do."
Torok tapped his comm badge, the familiar chirp indicated it was active and ready to receive communication. "Captain, we have received a Priority One directive from Star Fleet. Officer Molina will be forwarding it to your PADD's immediately. Requesting orders for procedures."
Powl closed his side and awaited a response from the Captain, but he turned his attention to the bridge officers, specifically to the helm. "Helm, maintain current course."
"Lieutenant Ra'an, while I know warp theory is certainly in your course of study along with many other subjects. Is it possible that the extra draw on the Zephyr to maintain the power connection would possibly affect our ability to maintain a steady warp bubble? It is possible there was residual damage to the Zephyr as a result of the explosion on the Broken Arrow, and during the time in which the crew attempted to breach the Broken Arrow hull?
Would you recommend that we slow our warp speed to Warp 1 to adequately address the issue to avoid risk to the Zephyr given that she is an aged vessel? I understand your course of study is Science and not Engineering, but spatial anomalies make you uniquely qualified to answer this query as the subject expert aboard."
